3 Stars- youth/large group and family
3.5 Stars- tree houses site
The only reason this site does not get the extra half star is that the facilities are shared by both sexes. There is a sign on the door you flip to show whether it is currently being used by women/girls or men/boys. There are also no outlets in the bathrooms but there are in the rooms attached to the group open air kitchens with fireplaces and the cabins but not the tree houses. The bathroom at the tree houses site has outlets. I have done tent camping here as well as small groups in cabins and tree houses. Warning in Aug. and Sept. the sites are covered in HUGE grasshoppers. I have also heard there are palmetto bugs in the tree houses in the summer months which is not a good time to camp in Florida anyway. This problem can be curtailed as long as you do not keep open containers of food in the tree houses. If you can stand the bugs though, there is a pool here run by the YMCA during the daytime of the summer months which is inexpensive, nice, and staffed with lifeguards. We stayed in the tree houses in Oct. and there were no roaches, it was nice :-). The shelters are not air conditioned.
The sites and bathrooms do have hot water. There is also a shelf/bench to set clothing and toiletry items on, mirror, and sink. Moms however are not usually too keen on sharing public bathrooms with young boys who tend to not lift the seat, aim, or clean up after themselves ;-). The showers are fairly nice though minus a few cobwebs in the upper corners.
