1 Star primitive site facilities but 4 star park
Ladies, this is primitive! The only reason the "facilities" get a star is that there is a port-a-let, but it's a bit of a hike and is up on a hill. There is NO electricity anywhere nor is there a spigot. We had to bring a water filtration system and walk down to the river to gather water to filter back up at the campsite. You have to backpack all gear out to this site but it's less than 2 miles from a parking lot so it's a good beginners backpacking trip with the larger trail available for a high adventure scout group that has another primitive site on it. Keep in mind a 5 mile hike takes much longer over small mountains/large hills than on the usual Flordia flat lands. There are also lots of poisonous snakes at this park during the warmer months, late spring to fall. It is however a beautiful site and is in the mountains of Florida. The historic house on the hill is beautiful as is the view from this primitive site. There are also family sites available and group sites with much nicer facilities we ran into on the hiking trail. There is a beautiful old stone bridge from, if I remember correctly, the civil war era.
